ABURY Hospitality Academy

Training program in the hospitality sector for underprivileged young women

Problem

Young women in Morocco face significant challenges due to socio-economic factors and traditional norms. Child marriage persists despite legal prohibitions, with 14% of Moroccan girls married before the age of 18 between 2015 and 2021. The culture of abuse is alarming, with 67% of girls aged 15 to 19 believing that a husband has the right to beat his wife under certain conditions, such as burning food or refusing sex.

In addition, a lack of educational opportunities has led to an unemployment rate of 80.8% among girls and women without secondary education.

Our approach

A comprehensive 6 to 12-month empowerment and training program in hospitality management for young women aged 18 to 25 aimed at fostering self-reliance and enabling them to take control of their own lives.

The program offers training in basic computer literacy and English and/or French, while also focusing on essential soft skills such as communication, leadership, teamwork, and critical thinking. The aim is to give the women not only professional skills, but also self-confidence and valuable life skills. Finally, they receive practical training in culinary arts, housekeeping, food and beverage service, nutrition, hygiene and health, all under the umbrella of technical skills.

Post-program support: After the successful completion of our program we will assist the women in securing employment in the hospitality industry.

Why Marrakech? Known for its rich culture, historic sites and vibrant markets, Marrakech attracts visitors from all over the world and is a prime location for this initiative. The shortage of highly skilled personnel in hospitality presents significant opportunities for those with proper training.
