Development of potential for 13-19 year old girls
ABURY Teenage Girls Club
Problem
In many rural regions of Morocco, girls still have significantly fewer opportunities for education than boys.
They often have to travel long distances to school, help with household chores, or drop out early—not because they lack talent, but because opportunities are limited.
Only around 40 % of girls in rural areas attend secondary school, a clear sign of how large the education gap still is (HCP, 2024).
The ABURY Teenage Girls Club addresses this gap directly: empowering girls, creating opportunities, and making their future possible.
Our approach
We believe: girls have incredible potential – they just need the right tools to let it shine!
At the ABURY Teenage Girls Club, girls meet regularly to laugh, learn, and take their futures into their own hands. Since 2023, our club in Douar Anzal has brought together 20 enthusiastic girls with their wonderful mentor Fatima Ezzahra. Two years full of energy, fun, and real achievements later, neighboring villages wanted the same. So, in October 2025, a second club was launched in Ait Ourir, led by Fatima’s friend Aicha. Today, 20 more girls are thriving there with great energy and determination!
The meetings are anything but boring: we talk about school, future plans, challenges, teamwork—and yes, also about the things that matter to teens.
The girls not only learn to speak confidently, collaborate, and stay focused, but also build a strong sense of community.
And to give the girls a little extra support, we award 2–3 scholarships each year (not exclusively for ABURY Teenage Girls Club participants) for the ABURY Girls Gearing Up Academy, our annual leadership summer academy in Berlin (more info here).
This shows the success of the project: it grows organically, village by village, from girl to girl… and the best part? The impact goes far beyond the clubs themselves.
