What we do - Andrea Bury in Douar Anzal

What we do is hard to explain in one sentence. But two objectives stand in the main focus of our work:

  1. the creation of development opportunities and the unfolding of inner potential
  2. intercultural exchange to improve understanding between different cultures

We achieve this by initiating and enabling numerous projects that are in line with the three causes that guide our work: children’s education, women empowerement and community development. In order to achieve the common goal, equal opportunities for all, we work directly with everybody involved – with children, parents, communities and local organizations as partners.

We believe that everyone deserves the chance to take their future into their own hands. To us, success means making this possible, helping people to develop their inner potential – and education is the key that unlocks the door to this success.

In 2013, in response to the wish of the mothers, we created the Pre-School for children and Literacy School for women in Douar Anzal. We have been working together with the community since 2011. In this Berber village, we enabled the construction of a water well, which functions using a solar pump, and have realized different intercultural workshops engaging with environmental and health issues. Furthermore, we initiated PortrAid together with Thomas Rusch, an art aided charity project that uses photography to help others. With this project we have financed 70 cataract operations for artisans from the Medina in Marrakesh, secured one year of pre-school education for the children from Douar Anzal, Takaterte and Adour and are currently working to get new looms for 38 weavers and their families in Ethiopia.
